Shaveen & Parminder

Shaveen & Parminder had a fairytale engagement celebration in Melbourne.

“My fiancé (Parminder) and I (Shaveen) are both Sikh Punjabi, living in Melbourne, Australia. I was born in Malaysia and my fiancé in Delhi, India. We met at University so have known each other for quite a while! “

Tell us a little about your the functions & venue

We celebrated our engagement with a party at Whitestone events. We wanted it to be a celebration with everyone. We had an intimate Roka at home a few months prior.

Tell us about your journey in finding and selecting your vendors, and your experience with them-

I always knew I wanted to have an event at Whitestone ever since I saw them on Insta so this was an easy choice.

With makeup and hair, Nhi and Teresa were always my first choice and I feel so lucky to have worked with them! They are a dream duo and are more than just makeup and hair artists. They were such a vibe and really have such a creative eye.

Jsingh photography and film were also a dream to work with! They were so flexible. I had sent them a moodboard and they really went above and beyond to ensure they captured those shots as well as providing guidance on other poses.

The centrepieces were from Melbourne event florals and complemented Whitestone perfectly!

The stage decor was done by eventgram by Masi who I found through Instagram. Also highly recommend as the decor looked even better than the inspo pics I sent!

Caterers were Lalas Bentleigh and everyone raved about the food!

Dj was Dj Ash who really brought all the vibes!!

All in all, I highly recommend all our vendors! They were all such a dream to work with!

How easy or difficult was it to find South Asian wedding vendors in Australia?

I would say it takes a lot of research to find all the vendors. I had to scroll through multiple Insta pages and the explore page to find all my vendors. Some I was already following or knew of through Insta so that was easier to make decisions on

Any “wedding planning” tips or advice for to-be-weds who are based in Australia but getting married in traditional South Asian style?

Have a moodboard! Once you have an idea of the looks and vibes you are going for, look for vendors that match the vibe. Also do a lot of research to ensure you are getting what you want
