Tash & Prab lived worlds apart in Vancouver & Melbourne. And yet they were destined to meet!
“Prab and I met when I came on exchange for a semester abroad to University of Melbourne in 2016. We fell in love instantly- I knew on our first date and he knew on our second date (which seemed slow to me! 😂) The sharing of cultural background and language (Punjabi) made our connection that much easier and deeper too, even though we had grown up worlds apart- him in Melbourne and me in Vancouver. We knew immediately the weight of our connection and after my semester abroad ended, we committed to doing long distance. I moved back to Melbourne after 2 years of long distance and have now been living here ever since. We’ve been together for 7 years and I’ve been in Melbourne for 5 years. “
Tell us a little about your wedding
Even though we got married in Canada, I felt a large part of our wedding was underpinned by some key vendors here in Melbourne. I naturally compare the wedding industry here in Australia to back home which is much more established and BIG… However, it is truly emerging and growing here and it is wonderful to see South Asian weddings take the limelight here in Aus.
Tell us about your journey in finding and selecting your vendors, and your experience with them-
A wonderful Melbourne vendor we had the pleasure of connecting with was Karegar (namely Manavi). She helped Prab and I choose and fully customize a pair of beautiful, designer outfits for our Sangeet party (our first event in Canada). We went to her studio multiple times and she painstakingly and thoroughly made sure that every detail and the fitting was absolute perfection. She also helped style me with the most beautiful jewellery and makeup/hair advice for the day and beyond. It is fabulous to see the space she has carved in Indian designer wear here in Australia.
Our international love story, you could say, was captured beautifully by Ash and his team at Prism Cinema in our pre wedding video. We had a creative vision to send our guests a Save the Date invitation through video format – not just any old invitation. Prism Cinema was fully on board with this new idea. They truly wove our personalities and our story together authentically.
